Council seeks to develop a master plan for Thomson Park under its LEP 2012’s new RE1 public recreation zoning. The park is a 6.2ha community land area bordered by Jersey, Reserve and Barton rds with sports facilities, including junior sized sports field with synthetic cricket patch; cricket practice net; basketball court for informal use and a children’s playground. The park also has a small amenities building with public toilets and change rooms. The submission period for comment closed on November 2. Updates on the Thomson Park master plan will be available on the council website and also at www.haveyoursaywilloughby.com.au. Inquiries: 9777 1000.

WWC is for the first time holding an Christmas Tree lightening ceremony.

Council is considering the following development applications, which have no expected adverse affect:

(DA-2012/344) Tony Craven Design Pty Ltd has submitted a DA for alterations and additions to an existing building at 22 Onyx Rd, including first floor additions and associated works, plus pool. While the impression is the bulk of the proposed building is much heavier than adjoining houses, the top floor extension has been kept to the back of the existing house.

(DA-2012/289) A DA has been submitted for alterations and additions and associated works to existing dwelling at 10 Pyrl Rd, including second floor addition and extension to the back of the property.

(DA-2012/269) A DA has been submitted for the removal of a swimming pool at 118 Artarmon Rd and conversion to garden area with associated works.

(DA-2012/213) Buena Vista Home Designs has submitted a DA for 9 Selwyn St for alterations and additions to existing dwelling, including first floor additions, ancillary and associated works – amended plans.

(DA-2011/626) Royal Stella Pty Ltd has submitted amended plans for a residential flat development at 1-3 Parkes Rd (see May Gazette, p 4) comprising seven dwellings. This is the third DA for this site this year. There are no obvious external differences from the earlier submission in May 2012. Of some concern is the increased traffic in the area, considering a similar development next door (now under construction).
