New improved routes and timetables for Loop Services

Willoughby City Council is improving local community shuttle services, The Loop and Artarmon Loop, by increasing service frequency and implementing shorter bus routes throughout the area.

The changes reflect the community's demand on the services, ensuring buses are provided where they are needed. The new timetable for the free services will commence on Monday 14 February, 2011.

The Loop service will now operate to a shortened timetable, between 10.15am and 3.30pm weekdays, servicing a different area of Willoughby each day:
Monday: Artarmon to Naremburn - service frequency increased to 35 minute intervals.
Tuesday: Castle Cove to Chatswood - new route, operating every 45 minutes.
Wednesday: Chatswood to Chatswood West - shorter route and service frequency increased to 40 minute intervals.
Thursday: Castle Cove to Northbridge - now commences from Castle Cove Library, operating every 45 minutes.
Friday: Chatswood to Northbridge - shorter route and service frequency increased to 40 minute intervals.

The Artarmon Loop service will now operate more frequently during the afternoon peak period and operating hours will be extended by an hour, with the service running until 7pm. Off peak services will now divert via both Artarmon Station and Royal North Shore Hospital, running every 15 minutes.

"The changes to The Loop and Artarmon Loop mean passengers will have access to more services more often, and the shorter routes will deliver them to their destinations sooner," said Willoughby Mayor, Pat Reilly.

The Loop and Artarmon Loop can be accessed anywhere along the service's route. Passengers can embark at existing bus stops or pick a spot where the bus can safely and legally stop to flag it down. The bus is unable to pick up or drop off passengers in 'no stopping' zones. Bicycles can be carried on bike racks at the rear of the bus.

The Loop and Artarmon Loop services aim to encourage the use of public transport and reduce car usage across the City of Willoughby, while also enhancing the viability of local business precincts.
